A little bit about me…
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Perinatal Mood Disorder Specialist located in La Crescenta, CA. I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Masters in Social Welfare in 2008 with a specialty in Mental Health. Prior to that I received my Bachelor's degree from California State University, Chico in Social Work. My background has been helping individuals, especially women, in community mental health and homeless service organizations in Los Angeles County.
My approach to perinatal therapy is rooted in a deep understanding of the unique emotional, psychological and physiological experiences that pregnant individuals and new parents may face. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their feelings, fears, and concerns, while providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to promote mental and emotional well-being.
My approach is eclectic in nature. I am a Trauma-Informed therapist working from a Strength’s Based perspective. I utilize techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) in my work with clients. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.
I specialize in Perinatal Mental Health because parents need better support during their journey to and in parenthood. It can be a tender time for the mother, but also the whole family. Having a skilled therapist that you can connect with in this transition is key to navigating this vulnerable time.
